ClubsNearby helps people find real local groups and helps organizers run the recurring work behind them. Some club pages are managed by an organizer; others begin as unclaimed listings built from public facts. We label that difference because discovery is not the same thing as verification.

This page explains what ClubsNearby checks, what we restrict, and what you can do when something feels wrong. If anything here is unclear or inaccurate, contact our support team and we'll fix it.

Joining a club

  • Check whether the club page is claimed or still based on public information.
  • Read the membership rules, approval steps, costs, accessibility notes, and meeting details before you join or RSVP.
  • Exact locations may stay restricted until you are a confirmed attendee. Do not rely on an off-platform address change that is missing from the club page.
  • Use Report on a club, profile, message, or community post when something violates our guidelines. Blocking stops ordinary interaction across supported community surfaces.
  • If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first. ClubsNearby is not an emergency service.

Running a club

  • Claim only a club you are authorized to represent.
  • Keep meeting dates, locations, access rules, membership requirements, and costs accurate and current.
  • Explain changes promptly. Safety-relevant location changes may restrict address visibility until the new location is classified.
  • Protect member information. Do not use membership or organizer data for spam, unrelated promotion, intimidation, or retaliation.
  • Reports receive human review. You can respond to a decision and use the appeal form when an appeal is available.

What “claimed” means — and doesn't

A claimed club page means an organizer established control through a supported claim path. It does not mean ClubsNearby ran a government-ID check, background check, credential review, or endorsement of the club or its leaders.

  • A verified email confirms access to that email address.
  • A payment badge, where shown, represents an active Stripe payment account. It is not a safety clearance.
  • Websites, social accounts, affiliations, and experience shown on a profile may be self-reported unless a specific check is named beside them.
  • An unclaimed page is a discovery record assembled from public sources, not a statement that the listed organizer has approved or manages it.

Meeting locations and exact addresses

Public commercial and organization-controlled locations may be visible publicly once the location is classified. An unknown or unclassified exact address stays restricted to confirmed attendees and authorized managers.

Private-residence gatherings cannot be published during launch. If a meeting location changes without a fresh classification, the exact address becomes restricted again. A session-specific location never inherits a safer parent address by accident.

Reports, blocking, and appeals

  • Use Report on the relevant club, profile, message, post, or comment so the review has the right context. For an in-person incident, use the safety report form.
  • Our goal is to respond to safety reports within 24 hours and other reports within three business days. Outside business hours, coverage is best-effort.
  • Blocks are enforced in both directions across supported messaging and community surfaces. Moderators may retain limited visibility when they need evidence to investigate or remove abuse.
  • Reporters may ask us not to identify them to the reported person. We honor that wherever a fair investigation and legal obligations allow.
  • Retaliation for reporting a concern or ownership dispute is itself a violation.

Imported and unclaimed club pages

ClubsNearby may create an unclaimed page from public sources so neighbors can find a real group. Public facts can be incomplete or out of date. A verified organizer can claim the page, propose corrections, or request removal; competing claims receive review rather than going to whoever asks first.

Organizer contact details used for verification are not member-visible. Public source attribution and claimed status remain visible so people can judge where the information came from.

Adult-only launch boundary

ClubsNearby accounts and participation flows are for adults 18 and older during launch. We do not currently present ClubsNearby as a youth-safety or child-supervision program. A public listing that mentions family or youth activity is not proof that ClubsNearby has reviewed its leaders, supervision, consent process, or safeguarding practices.

What we still need to grow into

  • No 24/7 staffed safety line or emergency response service.
  • No general government-ID, background-check, or credential-verification program.
  • No launch path for private-residence meetings.
  • No youth participation program or claim of youth-safety review.

We would rather state those limits clearly than turn a badge or a polished profile into a promise the product cannot support.

The bigger frame

ClubsNearby provides discovery, organizer tools, community controls, and a moderation process. It does not replace your judgment or put a staff member in the room. Read the page, ask questions, choose meeting places you are comfortable with, and leave if something feels wrong.
